Description

TRING SHIRE LANE SP 90 NW (East side) 6/108 Barn at - Shire Lane Farm - II Barn. C16. Timber frame on brick sill with dark weatherboarding and steep old red tile roof. A tall 3-bays barn facing W with double doors in middle bay and lean-to stable to left of doors, in similar materials with stable door on W. Jowled posts, mid-height rail tenoned in-line, straight tension braces next corners, long curved braces from posts to wallplate in each bay, unjowled post in centre of each gable, long double-curved and straight braces to tie-beams. Clasped purlin roof with one purlin to each slope, collar and queen-strut trusses, and straight wind-braces. Double curved braces in N gable and long curved braces in S gable. Squint-butted scarf joints in wallplate with one edge peg.
