Description
The walled garden at Garth Farm and Heylin Farm is a rectangular structure aligned east-west and facing south, situated on a sloping site. It is built of red brick, with the walls standing at full height and featuring intact stone capping. There is a ramped drop in height at the midpoint of both the east and west side walls, and the exterior includes plain pilasters. The north wall is heated, with evidence of boiler structures noted on the north side during an inspection for inclusion in the Parks & Garden register. The garden has curving corners at the northeast and northwest, with a service door located near each corner; the door on the northwest side retained a wooden door at the time of inspection. A formal doorway with a four-centred arch is centrally located in the south wall. Although the internal east-west dividing wall is no longer visible, remains of stone steps were observed on the east side during an inspection in 2017. In the southwest corner, there is a single-storey lean-to shed that is currently roofless but was previously covered with corrugated iron.
