3/35 Walled Garden approx 100m. north-east of Heydon Hall

GV II

Walled garden. C18 and later. Red brick perimeter walls with double- chamfered coping. Shallow pilaster-buttresses. Central entrance in each wall. In the north wall, door and window openings to lean-to with flat gauged arches: two 2-light casements with glazing bars. In the north-west corner a wide segmental-headed opening with glazed door and sidelights with glazing bars. Central doorway in north wall has 6-panelled door in square-headed frame with segmental relieving arch over. Later pediment on wall top with short pilaster and pediment with square base for finial. Pair of gates central in east wall. Doorways with cambered arches in south and west walls. In the crossing at the centre of the garden, a vase-shaped limestone pedestal with a large ball-finial, re-used.
