Description
Park Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that features a timber frame and a slate roof. It has one storey and an attic, with two to three bays and a lobby-entry plan. There is an added or rebuilt brick bay at the west end, along with a granary above that is accessed by external steps. The services are located in a lean-to at the rear, and there is a one-storey timber-framed woodstore, which may have originally been a free-standing granary, positioned at right angles to the west end.
The farmhouse showcases robust square panel box framing that is three panels high, with timber three-light windows and a boarded door. A gabled dormer is present, along with a brick stack.
Inside, the living hall to the left of the stack features two chamfered ceiling beams with cut and scoop stops, and a timber-framed end wall that originally had wattle and daub panels but has been opened to reveal a stone chamber beneath the granary. There is a large fireplace with a lateral oven and an original winding oak stair newel. The parlour behind the stack has similar spine beams. The first floor retains original oak floorboards and 17th-century panelled partitions, which are likely reset, along with oak doors that have original latches. The centre room dormer is also from the 17th century, with a frame that includes small ogee mouldings on the mullion and sides.
