Description

Upper Maenllwyd is a former farmhouse dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a hipped slate roof. The original building is two storeys high with a cellar, and comprises two bays. A two-bay cross wing built of shale-faced stone has been extended to the rear in the 20th century. A conservatory was added to the south side in the late 20th century. The front features a door with a fanlight, and 16-pane windows set within rubbed flat brick arches and stone sills. Outsetting eaves courses are also visible. The cross wing is two storeys high with an attic, and has paned casement windows. A semi-circular window is located in the gable of the attic floor. A large stone stack is present. The farmhouse was inaccessible at the time of inspection in January 1996.
