Description
Church House is a symmetrical building with a three-window range and gable end stacks, constructed in the 18th century. An additional unit was added at the north end shortly after the original construction. The building has two storeys and an attic, which is lit from the rear. It features random rubble masonry beneath a slate roof with masonry stacks. The north unit may have served as an outbuilding or accommodation for laborers, and it has a planked door in the north gable end at first floor level, accessible by steps.
The front (east) elevation is notable for its openings under segmental arched heads with voussoirs. There are two doorways with 20th-century doors; the north door is set within a 20th-century timber porch and leads into the ground floor of the former outbuilding. The windows are primarily three-light casements, with two-light windows above the central doorway and the north window having been renewed in earlier openings. The upper storey windows have three rows of panes, while the lower storey windows have five rows. An S-shaped tie plate is located under the eaves.
On the rear, there is a masonry lean-to on the north side, which may be contemporary with the north bay extension, covered by a slate roof and patched with concrete blocks. Above this lean-to is an area of timber cladding and a small cast iron window. The south side of the rear elevation is clad in corrugated iron, and there are small casement windows on all three storeys, placed irregularly.
Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
