Description

Pen y Banc is a two-storey building featuring a four-window range constructed from white-washed random stone and topped with a slate roof. It has a large ridge stack, which is rendered over stone, and forms a lobby entrance to the left of the centre. The entrance is sheltered by an open slate porch with a shallow lean-to roof, inside of which are double panelled doors. The ground floor has small-pane casement windows, with those on the ground floor featuring segmental brick heads and dripmoulds. To the right of the entrance is a three-light window and a single light window at the far right. A former small window to the left of the porch has been infilled with stone.

On the upper storey, there is a small four-pane window above the porch, flanked by two-light casement windows beneath the eaves, with a single light window at the far right that is not aligned with the window below. There is a modernised farm range, partly built of breeze block, adjoining the eastern gable end. At the western end, there is a stone lean-to with a mostly missing roof, likely a former service unit. The western gable shows an infilled window and the roof-line of the 17th-century house.

The rear of the building features an outshut of a later date to the right of centre, with a single-storey lean-to to the left. There is a single light window with iron diamond glazing at the far left, and the single-storey lean-to has a small 20th-century wooden window, above which is a small-pane iron-glazed window. The outshut has an iron-glazed small-pane casement on each storey. In the right-hand bay, there is an inset three-light wooden window, said to be mullioned, with a large timber lintel. Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
