Description

Rhiwgoch is a long, three-window house built in the 18th century, featuring one-and-a-half storeys. It is constructed of rubble stone with a roughcast front and has a slate roof, with stone end stacks that have yellow brick quoins. To the right of the center is a gabled porch with moulded barge boards, which contains a half-glazed boarded door. This porch is flanked by 12-pane horned sash windows that sit under segmental brick heads. Above, similar windows are aligned under gablets. To the far left, there is a four-pane horned sash window, also with a segmental brick head, and a similar window above it. The west gable end has no openings, while the rear, visible only from the road, is made of random stone and features several four-pane sash windows.

Adjoining the east gable end is a lofted farm range, in front of which is a long, narrow lean-to made of rubble stone. The left half of the range and the lean-to have slate roofs, while the right half of the range has a corrugated iron roof. There is a doorway on the far left with split doors and a planked door at the left end of the lean-to. The right end of the lean-to contains two pig sties with full-height doorways, and in front of these are rubble stone pens with flat stone copings and small doorways. The east gable end of the farm range rests on boulder footings and features a small casement window offset to the left in the upper storey. At the rear, behind the pig sties, is a cart-shed with external stone stairs on the right leading to a 20th-century attic room that has a planked door, two large wooden windows, and vertical timber boarding. The right part of the range includes a planked door on the left, a small window on the right, and a loft hatch in a raked half-dormer.

There was no access to the interior at the time of inspection.
