Description
Pen-rhiw-las is a two-unit house dating from the 18th century, featuring one-and-a-half storeys and an adjoining two-unit outbuilding on the right, both under the same roofline. The house is constructed of random stone, which is white-washed at the front, and is topped with a slate roof that has raised stone copings. There is a stone stack at the left end and a lateral stone stack at the rear.
The front facade includes a lobby entrance to the left with a boarded door, and to the right are two small window openings that now contain 20th-century wooden top-hung windows. Above these windows are two small raked half-dormers with similar windows, and there is a skylight to the left. The adjoining outbuilding is single-storey due to the rising ground and features split doors to the left and a small wooden window to the right. The right-hand unit of the outbuilding is narrower and includes a cart-bay.
At the rear of the house, there are two small lights, one for each unit, and two skylights in the roof pitch. The lateral stack is adjacent to the outbuilding, where a doorway has been inserted beneath it, featuring a wooden door set in a concrete surround. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
