Description
The Gazebo with dovehouse at The Gaer is a 19th-century structure built of brick and topped with a slate roof. It has a square plan and features an upper floor that houses the dovehouse. Positioned at the end of a 2.5-meter high garden wall, which has been largely rebuilt, the gazebo is located approximately 40 meters from the main house.
The building's façade includes a central pointed arched doorway made with half-brick voussoirs, and above it is a timber 'Y'-tracery overlight. On either side of the doorway, there are similar pointed openings that once served as windows, now blocked. The upper floor features a central pointed opening with flight boxes, likely added later, and on either side, there are shallow blind openings of equal size.
Inside, the gazebo is plastered and has a ceiling, along with a chimney breast and fireplace located on the rear wall. Access to the upper chamber is not available.
