Description
Siglen is a house built with a lobby entry plan, constructed in timber framing and featuring modern concrete tiles on the roof, along with a central brick ridge stack that has been partly renewed. The building stands two storeys high, with a square framing consisting of three panels in depth and twelve panels in width, set on a stone and brick base. The panels are whitewashed plaster.
On the right side, there is a renewed two-light casement window on the ground floor in the second panel, a ledged door in the fifth panel, and two pairs of renewed casement windows with iron opening lights in the seventh and eighth panels, along with a small single light window above in the eighth panel. Since 1983, renewed casement pairs have replaced a five-pane wide sash window. There is also a renewed two-light casement in the eleventh panel and a fixed pane in the twelfth panel.
The left end gable is clad in corrugated material and features a two-light window on each floor, while the right end gable has its timber frame exposed. The building has a high rubble plinth, with a framing of five panels wide by three high, supported by angle braces on the top outer panels. The gable apex and each side of the attic contain glazed panels with a modern iron casement pair. The ground floor has modern windows in the first, second, and fifth panels. At the rear, there is one dormer, with the timber frame obscured by a brick lean-to against the ground floor.
The timber frame of the rear wall is visible, and there is a large fireplace located to the north of the centre room, along with a heavy beam and joists.
