Description
No. 6, including The Pharmacy, is a three-storey building featuring a six-window front made of coursed rubble. It has a slate roof with a dentil eaves band and a dark brick chimney stack on the left. The building is flanked by two gables that have applied half-timbering and hook finials. The sash windows include small panes in the upper sashes of the gables, nine panes in the remaining second-floor windows, and four panes below, except for the extreme left where a square bay has been added. The entrance to No. 6 has a six-panel door with a traceried overlight, while No. 8 features a half-glazed door. There is a modern shop front and broad boarded doors in the center.
Inside, there is a post and panel rear wall to the pantry, 19th-century stairs, and stop-chamfered beams on the first floor that have been later plastered or boxed. The attic has lath and plaster partition walls, and a windlass suggests that it may have been used as a warehouse in the past. The building may have originally consisted of two houses with shops on the ground floor and one large and one small living unit above.
