Description

This is a three-storey, three-window bank building, likely dating from the late 18th century. The front of the building is painted rendered with rusticated quoins, and the windows are offset to the right. It has a slate roof with red brick chimney stacks and wide bracket eaves that almost form a parapet. The second floor features deeply lugged architraves and bracketed sills. A continuous string course runs along the first floor, stepped to form labels, with small volutes to the sills; the windows on both floors have four panes. The cornice above the ground floor is channelled and rusticated, with a band over the fluted keystones and at the impost level. On the ground floor are five round-arched openings, including a doorway in the centre-right, with some infill on the right due to a cash dispenser. The rear of the building is whitewashed and has similar sash windows. A section of iron railings, originally fronting the building, is now detached, with gates in the centre. The banking hall within the building is modern.
