Description
The White Lion Hotel is a three-storey building with a painted render exterior, featuring a plinth, a slate roof, wide eaves, and a red brick chimney stack on the left side. The right-hand bay projects and is part of a uniformly remodeled early 19th-century group that has earlier origins. This bay includes rusticated quoins and a dentil eaves cornice, with each bay topped by a steep gable over the second-floor window. A Doric porch, now with glazed sides, is positioned at the angle to the left of the projecting bay. There are splayed two-storey bays at either end and a single-storey bay next to the porch. The windows are sash with horned four-pane glazing, except for the first floor of the right-hand bay, which has small pane glazing. The left gable end is made of red brick, and there is a cross range at the rear with similar sash windows and a modern extension. A large chimney stack serves the main fireplace. The ground floor retains original ceiling beams and a fireplace on the rear wall, but the rest of the interior has been altered.
