Description
2 Pensarn is a pair of mirrored two-storey cottages built in the 19th century. They are roughcast and white-washed, topped with a hipped slate roof that features a central slate-hung ridge stack. The cottages have overhanging eaves and eyebrow dormers on the garden front. The windows are narrow horned sashes, mostly grouped together, and sit under shallow segmental heads.
The entrance front faces the road and includes a narrow single-storey porch wing at the center, with entrances on either side. Each cottage has two 12-pane sash windows flanking the porch wing, along with a narrow 6-pane light on the outer sides. On the upper storey, there is a window for each cottage, aligned towards the center, each being a 2-light 12-pane sash located just under the eaves.
On the garden front facing west, each cottage features an original part-glazed boarded door on the outer side, sheltered by a flat-roofed canopy supported by moulded brackets. There is a wide tripartite window on the inner side of each cottage, consisting of a fixed 16-pane light flanked by 8-pane sashes. Above this is a tripartite sash window with a segmental head, situated under an eyebrow dormer. The north and south ends of the cottages have mirrored window arrangements. The north end has a pair of 4-pane sashes on the left and a similar single light on the right, all under segmental heads. The upper floor has a tripartite sash on the left and a single light on the right, positioned just under the eaves.
No. 2 has its entrance on the side of the porch wing. An opening to the left leads into a small lobby, with a boarded door at right angles leading into the house, and a metal window to the right of the opening. There is also an outbuilding at the right end, which has a narrow boarded door and a small window. The interior has not been seen during the resurvey.
