Description
The boundary wall to Plas Machynlleth consists of two sections that date back to the early 19th century, likely built alongside the former coach house and stables. The masonry is continuous on this side, suggesting it may also be contemporary with the Gothic wing addition to Plas Machynlleth.
The wall begins with a short section that steps down between the former coach house and stables and a long agricultural range. This section features a hipped roof to the northeast and a breeze block gable to the southwest, topped with a corrugated roof. There are no windows on the roadside elevation, but it includes two brace plates and one brick ventilator at the center. The rubble wall continues, stepping down to the right and then stepping up as it approaches the service yard entry. The wall curves back towards this opening on both sides, with a short arm on the southwest side that curves into the yard.
The main rubble boundary wall extends down to the corner by the lay-by, where there is a square pier with a cap. The wall then returns at a right angle, slightly lower, to a further pier before turning back opposite the lodge, extending as far as the gates and gate piers at the southwest end of the main drive to Plas Machynlleth.
