Description
St Michael's Nursing Home is a building constructed of snecked dressed stone in a simple Tudor Gothic style, featuring slate roofs with steeply pitched coped gables. The structure includes the main house, attached servants' quarters, and stabling, all arranged in a picturesque layout across 2 acres of gardens. It is two storeys tall with attics, and the main front gable steps back to accommodate an entrance porch, which has a Tudor arch with partly glazed modern doors and angled shields in the spandrels. The windows are mullioned and transomed, featuring heavily moulded frames set in chamfered stone surrounds, with horizontal moulded drip moulds above. The gable above the first-floor window displays arms with the initials IC. The rear elevation is also prominently designed, with the main reception rooms highlighted by a more prominent gable and a two-storey canted bay window, while lesser gables are positioned over the adjoining two bays. The service end has a lower roof and gable. The windows include two and three-light timber cross designs. The interior has been modified to suit its current use.
