Bodiwan

Bodiwan is a detached mid-Victorian house that stands two storeys plus an attic, designed in a simple Tudor-Gothic style. It is constructed of rough-dressed, snecked stone with slatestone dressings. The house features medium-steep slate roofs with tiled ridges, oversailing eaves, and plain chimneys with cornicing.

The main front of the house is nearly symmetrical and consists of three bays, with gabled cross-wings on either side of a recessed central entrance bay. This entrance bay has a central panelled door flanked by plain pilasters and features 6-pane lights on either side, along with a rectangular overlight above. A continuous slated canopy porch with a gablet covers the entrance, and the bargeboards display decorative cusping. Above the entrance is a wooden cross-window with marginally-glazed panes and a slatestone lintel. The outer bays also have decorative bargeboards and similar cross-windows with returned labels on the first floor and the right ground floor. The left ground floor features a wooden canted bay with a moulded cornice, and there are small square attic lights.

The east-facing elevation has a two-bay main section with a similar gable on the left-hand bay. The windows are consistent with those described previously, including the canted bay on the left ground floor. To the right, there is a stepped-down and set-back one-and-a-half storey service block with a gable over a first-floor cross-window that breaks the eaves. The rear gables also have decorative bargeboards similar to those on the front.

The interior was not inspected during the survey.
