Description
Chirk Lodge, located in Brynkinallt Park, is a single-storey building constructed from local sandstone ashlar and features a flat roof. Originally designed in an 'L' shape, it has a long facade that faces the driveway within the gates and ends with an octagonal crenellated tower. The facade includes one oriel canted window with pointed lights. The tower's south face has twin pointed lights topped with a label that displays the family motto "PRO ARIS ET FOCIS." Above this, there are family arms on the angle facing the gate. The crenellated parapet of the long front features additional inscriptions that read "AD MDCCCXIII INCHOATUM" and "AD MDCCCXIV PERFECTUM," as well as a stone adorned with masonic emblems. The entrance is located in the west gable end, featuring a square-headed door with a label above and another motto, "PRO REGE ET LEGE," along with family arms. The building has three tall stacks and has undergone later extensions at the rear.
