Farm Ranges at Wern Tower

The farm ranges at Wern Tower consist of a stable range to the north, a cart shed and barn to the west, and a cowhouse to the south, all built using dressed random stone and covered by slate roofs.

The stable range has two doorways, the one on the right being higher than the left. An unglazed two-light wooden window is positioned to the left of each doorway. A loft hatch opening is located towards the centre of the range. The rear of the stable range is without openings, except for a gable at the right-hand end.

The western range begins with a large cart bay on the left. To the right of this is a raised doorway leading to the threshing barn, accessible by three stone steps. At a right angle to this is the cowhouse, originally featuring three doorways, but the left and right doorways have since been blocked. A loft hatch is present above. The eastern gable end of the stable range has a doorway to the left of the centre, and sawn purlins are visible. The south-facing elevation, which fronts the road, shows evidence of alterations and includes a window, a small blocked opening to its left, and two loft hatches.

Inside the stable range, two original wooden stall partitions are located on the left, alongside cobbled floors. A manger is situated against the rear wall towards the right, constructed of large blue brick uprights supported by two shallow arches of red brick. The stable range is three bays wide, with a loft above. The loft beams feature a shallow chamfer. The barn in the western range has a raised threshing floor, and the cart bay is open to the roof with early purlins.
