Description
The Byre/Stable Range at Gwalia Farm is a 19th-century timber-framed structure built on a high brick plinth, featuring painted brick panel infill and a slate roof. The gables have been rebuilt in brick. This two-storey building originally had four doors but now has two outer doors and two central windows created from earlier doorways. There are two square shuttered openings for the loft above, which includes cross vents in the brick panels. A former cartshed extends to the west under the same roofline, likely added later, as it has a slightly different framing pattern. The lower storey, which was once open, has been enclosed to create a loose box, although the stop-chamfered beam that served as the lintel remains. A stone staircase leads to the loft against the gable wall of the cartshed and includes a dog kennel beneath the stairs.
