Description
The Lofted Cart-house and Stable at Plas y Wern is a two-storey building constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. It features a long range design, with three square loft windows located above two elliptical arched cart entries and a stable door. The upper windows are positioned under the eaves and have timber lintels, while the cart entries are framed by stone voussoirs. The stable door aligns with the third loft window and also has stone voussoirs.
Access to the loft is provided by outside stone steps at each end, leading to loft doors that feature timber lintels. The northern door is fitted with iron strap hinges. At the rear of the building, there are two loft windows and a door leading to the stable on the left side.
Inside, the loft is supported by collar trusses with bolted collars. The stable retains remnants of three stalls on each side, along with a rear door.
