Description
The barn at Plas y Wern is a building constructed from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof. It features a single door located to the left of the center, which is framed by stone voussoirs. To the right of this door, there is a vent loop. The northern end of the barn has a planked stable door with strap hinges and stone voussoirs. At the rear, there is an outshut that also has a similar planked stable door with stone voussoirs and one small window. At the southeast corner of the rear is a wheelpit that houses a large iron water-wheel made by S.F. Kelly from the Bridgend Foundry in Cardigan. The southern end of the outshut is set back from the main southern end wall and includes a cart-entry with a timber lintel. There is one window in the main rear wall, positioned at the angle to the outshut. The barn has a five-bay roof supported by bolted collar trusses.
