Description

Gwalia Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building that features a timber-framed original structure oriented at right angles to the road. This original section has regular square panels, mostly filled with brick, and is topped with a slate roof. It consists of a single storey with an attic and a two-unit plan. The panels are supported by angle braces at each end and in the center. Currently, the building is only lit from the gable end, with metal casement windows added on each floor.

Attached to the east wall is a brick lean-to that has been rebuilt on the site of an earlier structure. The low gabled roof of this early range connects it to a later extension of the house, suggesting that there may have been an earlier wing where the current 19th-century building stands. The extension is rendered over brick and also has a slate roof. It is two storeys high, follows a two-unit plan, and features a central entrance on the front elevation, with a central stair-window at the rear. The doorway is located in an added gabled porch and is flanked by two-pane sash windows with cambered heads on both floors. There is a stack at the end wall.
