Description
The Cart Shed at Kite Hill Farm is a late 18th-century structure that has undergone some refurbishment in the 20th century. It is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding, standing on a brick plinth, with a tiled roof.
The cart shed features a four-bay plan, originally open at the front, but two of the bays have since been enclosed. On the north-west side, the two northern bays remain open and are supported by wooden posts with bolted knees on stone pad stones. The enclosed bays have plank doors with pintle hinges.
Inside, a later plank partition separates the two western bays. The roof structure consists of two tiers of staggered purlins and collar beams. Notably, the western bay was reconstructed in the 20th century.
