Description
The building is a former stable from the 18th century, with some refurbishment from the 20th century. A 20th-century cement block addition to the south-west is not included in the listing.
The stable is timber-framed and covered in weatherboarding, sitting on a plinth primarily made of stone, with some brick on the north-east side. It features a half-hipped roof clad in corrugated sheeting and has a three-bay plan with a hayloft above.
On the north-east side, there is a wide stable door and a narrower one, both fitted with pintle hinges. The exterior also includes two window openings with 20th-century windows. Part of the rear elevation is hidden by a later addition.
Inside, the roof structure consists of staggered purlins, diagonal tension braces, queen posts, and a ridge-piece. Much of the wall frame has been boarded to protect against damage from kicking horses, but some elements of the floor frame, along with a few studs and posts, are still visible, and a cobbled floor remains.
