Description
The Estate Cottage at Wynnstay Hall dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a hipped slate roof featuring red ridge tiles. The building has a rectilinear plan with rear extensions. The front elevation is symmetrical, with two storeys and two windows, flanked by full-height pilasters on each side. The central door is set within a pedimented sandstone architrave, and there is a sandstone plinth that has been altered. One window on the upper floor is a cast-iron casement with 36 panes, while the others are of mid-20th century design. On the right side, there is an attached wall and gatepier that once served as an entrance to the walled garden. The right-hand return elevation connects to the wall of the former D-shaped kitchen garden. The curved northern wall features a blocked doorway and a cavity wall with heating flues between the skins, which is partially damaged. The interior was not accessible during the survey in October 1994.
