Description
The attached former kitchen garden walls at Wynnstay Hall date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a hipped slate roof featuring red ridge tiles. The structure has a rectilinear plan with rear extensions and presents a symmetrical two-storey elevation with two windows. Full-height pilasters flank a central door that is set within a pedimented sandstone architrave. The sandstone plinth has been altered. One of the upper floor windows is a cast-iron casement with 36 panes, while the others have a mid-20th century character. On the right side, there is an attached wall and gatepier that formerly served as an entrance to the walled garden. The right-hand return elevation connects to the wall of the former kitchen garden, which is D-shaped. The curved northern wall features a blocked doorway and a cavity wall with heating flues between the skins, which is partially damaged. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey in October 1994.
