Description
Gardener's House, which includes bothies, walls, and a shed to the west, is a 19th-century building constructed of red brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. It features a one and a half storey house alongside low single storey bothies. The front elevation is symmetrical, with a central door that has an overlight, flanked by casement windows, all of which have stone lintels with projecting keystones. Above the door is a Diocletian window. The gable ends have stone kneelers, and there is a dentil eaves cornice on the right and left return elevations. The bothies on each side have ranges of casement windows set in cambered-arch openings and central doors. The left-hand range has an external brick stack at the rear. The rear elevation of the house is also symmetrical, featuring a central door flanked by casement windows with stone sills, and another Diocletian window above the door. A wall is attached at right angles to the right of the door, forming the side of the limeyard, and a wall on the north side runs west to join a small brick outbuilding that creates a yard. The interior was not inspected during the 1996 survey.
