Description
The Walled Garden and Bothy at Marchwiel Hall is a notable structure featuring a garden wall made of red brick in stretcher bond, which is stepped and topped with curved, sweeping sandstone coping stones. To the north of the wall is a mid-19th century bothy constructed of red brick, showcasing a dentil cornice and a slate roof. This two-storey building includes an attic and is distinguished by its unusually ornate mid-19th century cast-iron gothic traceried windows on both the ground floor and the attic. At the rear, there is a brick stack with a terracotta pot. To the left of the doorway, there are lean-to sheds that are associated with greenhouses, which include a boiler house and potting sheds. To the south of the wall, there is a range of late 19th century greenhouses.
Inside the bothy, there is a simple mid-19th century fireplace and a wooden staircase leading to the attic floor.
