Description
Marchwiel Old Hall is a simple and restrained building from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof with twin hips at the rear and wide boarded eaves, along with brick chimneys. The building has a rectilinear plan and stands two storeys high. The elevation facing the road is symmetrical, with a lower two-storey service wing attached to the left. The windows are 12-pane sashes with stone cills, and there is a central door that has a wooden pedimented surround and an overlight. The right-hand return has similar windows, although the upper floor window on the right side is blind. The rear elevation shows signs of alteration, featuring a central door, one 12-pane sash window per floor on the left, and a tripartite window of late 19th-century character to the right. Above the door and to the right on the upper floor, there are casement windows. The interior was not accessible during the 1996 survey.
