Description

The garden pavilion, along with its attached walls, alcove gatepiers, and gates, is located immediately to the east of the house. It features a brick wall with a flat stone parapet that runs at a right angle to the house at the southeast end. This wall is connected to a pair of square-section brick gatepiers topped with flat stone caps, which support iron gates that are characteristic of the late 19th century. The wall continues and then returns at a right angle.

In the angle of the wall, there is a seating alcove that consists of a curved recess framed by square-section brick piers with flat stone caps. This alcove features a shaped gable, and the entrance arch is made of hard red Ruabon brick. The wall continues parallel to the house, and the return at a right angle leads to a brick pavilion framed by rusticated stone piers that have ball finials. The pavilion boasts an extravagantly shaped gable built above a string course, with arch-headed windows on each side and a central circular opening.

The wall then returns at a right angle, and set into it, aligned with the rose garden and Moss Walk, is another seating alcove. This alcove features a gabled opening leading to a curved recess, flanked by red brick piers topped with ball finials. Both the piers and the gable are decorated with dentil detailing in buff brick.
