Description

The North Garden Pavilion, dating from the late 19th century, is accompanied by attached walls, alcove gatepiers, and gates located immediately to the east of the house. A brick wall with a flat stone parapet extends at right angles from the house at the northeast end and connects to a pair of square-section brick gatepiers topped with flat stone caps, featuring iron gates that reflect a late 19th-century style. The wall continues and then returns at right angles. In the corner formed by this return is a seating alcove, which consists of a curved recess framed by square-section brick piers with flat stone caps. This alcove features a shaped gable, and the entrance arch is made of hard red Ruabon brick. The wall continues parallel to the house, and the return at right angles leads to a brick pavilion framed by rusticated stone piers topped with ball finials. The pavilion boasts an extravagantly shaped gable built above a string course, with arch-headed windows on each side and a central circular clock face.
