Description

West Lodge to Bryn-y-Pys is a building constructed of brick and half-timbering, topped with a slate roof. It features a picturesque asymmetry, with the entrance located on the north elevation towards the right. This entrance is set in a gabled porch, which has brick plinth walls supporting turned balusters that lead to arcaded timberwork. The apex of the gable displays plasterwork with the date and initials 'EP'. To the immediate left of the porch is a narrow canted bay window with a lean-to roof, and above it is an asymmetrical dormer gable that holds a 2-light mullioned window. The hipped roof of the eastern return and south wing curves low around the angle, extending over a 2-light mullioned window to the left of the canted bay. The west gable juts over the canted bay window on the ground floor, featuring a richly carved bressumer supported by moulded brackets, with pargetting between the studs. The gable apex is also jetted and contains a 4-light moulded wood mullioned window.
