Description
26 Grosvenor Road is a building featuring Flemish bond brickwork with burnt headers, some ashlar dressings, and a slate roof. The two houses are identical, but their arrangement as a pair is not symmetrical. The building has two storeys and a six-window range. Each house has an advanced gable to the left and a shallow lean-to in the angle that houses a porch and paired ground floor windows. The porch has a shallow segmentally arched outer door, angle quoins, and a plain wood fascia that extends across the pair of full-height windows to the right. These windows are segmentally arched casements, separated by rusticated painted stone pilasters. The upper windows are four-pane sashes set in moulded stone architraves, featuring flat arched entablatures with keys and a continuous sill band. Each advanced gable has a canted bay window with tall casement lights on the ground floor and a Palladian window on the upper storey, also with a continuous sill band. A modillion cornice creates an open pediment at the gable and continues across the right-hand range. The axial stacks retain stepped brick and stone caps.
