Description
17 and 19 Abbey Street are two houses built in the late 18th century. They feature Flemish bond brickwork with light headers, set on a chamfered plinth, and have V-jointed quoins. The roofs are made of graduated slate with coped gables and kneelers, and there are rebuilt ridge and end brick chimney stacks that are partly rendered. The buildings are three storeys high, each with two bays; however, No. 17 has no windows in the left bay. Both houses were constructed as part of the same build. Each house has a left panelled door with a fanlight, framed by a painted pilastered surround that includes false imposts and a keystone. The sash windows on the upper floor have glazing bars and are set in brick reveals, while the ground-floor windows feature external shutter hinge brackets. The return gable wall of No. 19 is finished in painted render and faces Paternoster Row. The interior has not been inspected.
