Description
61 King Street is a brick building with a slate roof, dating from the 18th century. It stands three storeys high. The King Street elevation is divided into three sections, each featuring three windows. Narrow, recessed bays are positioned between these sections, each containing a six-panelled door leading to a passage entry and an eight-pane sash window above. The main sections between the recessed bays demonstrate three segmental arches on the ground floor. These arches contain tripartite sash windows (some replaced) within the outer arches, and paired doorways (originally with six-panelled doors, many now renewed) within the inner arches. Cast iron medallions are situated on either side of the doorways. The upper windows are twelve-pane sashes with flat, arched brickwork above. The windows to the attic storey are six-pane sashes. The corner of the building, facing Rhosddu Road, is curved with a segmental arch on the ground floor above a twelve-pane sash window. A two-window range returns after this, with a new entrance. Chimneys are located towards the rear of the building.
Adjacent to the terrace on the Rhosddu Road elevation is a former coach house, now used as offices. Lower windows have been inserted; the relieving arches of the original openings remain visible above, and stone-dressed circular windows (oculi) are positioned above.
