Description
The gazebo at Plas Teg is a part-open structure with a square plan and a pyramidal slate roof. It is built from thin, rough-dressed sandstone blocks, featuring large squared quoins made of blue/grey freestone and sandstone dressings. The south and part of the east sides are open, supported by a fine Tuscan column at the southeast corner, which has a tall base. The front includes a two-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window with a moulded label, while the closed sides have small decorative lights with shaped heads. A section of the adjoining forecourt wall facing the house was recently rebuilt around 1989.
The upper walls are originally lime and hair plastered, and the lower sections may have been panelled. Notably, around the windows, there is surviving figurative and cartoon graffiti in pencil, which dates back to the time of wartime occupation by American forces in 1944.
