Description

26 Regent Street is a simple classical building dating from the 19th century. It has three storeys and a broad front with three windows. The exterior is finished in painted roughcast, featuring rusticated end quoins and a plinth. The roof is modern and tiled, while the original bracketed eaves and red brick chimney stacks remain intact.

The building primarily has 12 and 16 pane sash windows, which are adorned with moulded architraves, keystones, and bracket cills. However, the second floor on the left side lacks glazing bars, and the cill brackets have been removed from the first floor on the left. There is a central timber panel on the first floor with a raised border, which has modern windows inserted; this area was previously used for a commercial sign for the Sun Brewery.

On the ground floor, there is a central coach entry that served this former commercial premises. To the left of this entry is a shop front with a rounded corner and glazed double doors. To the right of the main opening, there is a six-panel door with a two-pane overlight, framed by a rusticated architrave. The shop front, coach entry, and doorway are all set beneath a deep fascia with a cornice.

Inside, there are two doorways within the through passage. The doorway to the left is pedimented with panelled reveals, while the one to the right is numbered 26A. The rear of the building is roughcast and features small pane sash windows, along with a modern extension.
