Description
This is a three-story building, likely dating from the 18th century, originally built as a church house. The front facade is roughcast with quoins, a continuous cill band, and window architraves. It has a slate roof and red brick chimney stacks. Most windows are small-paned; those on the right side are offset, with a blocked pivot window on the second floor, top-hung casements on the first floor, a sash window on the ground floor to the left, and a casement window to the right. An additional window is located at the extreme right end. The entrance is to the left of the centre, featuring a six-panel door set under a gabled and trellised porch.
The continuous cill bands extend around the plain side elevations. The north side, originally the main front, is constructed of rubble with pale sandstone dressings, and incorporates a date plaque in the centre. It features casement windows with stone cills; three-light windows are at the ends, and a two-light window is in the centre above a modern door (formerly a hooded entrance, evidenced by the remaining stone brackets). The rear forecourt is grassed and enclosed by a rubble wall with coping and a boarded gate.
Internally, the building has been altered, but retains some original Georgian doorcases and a long, cambered beam to the kitchen fireplace, featuring stop-chamfered main ceiling beams with run-out stops.
