Description
The barn at Branas Uchaf is constructed of rubble stone and features a corrugated roof, with asbestos on the northern pitch and iron on the southern pitch. An additional bay has been added to the right end, which has a slate roof. The central doorway leads to a slightly raised winnowing passage and is fitted with a sliding corrugated steel door. To the left of the doorway, there are three ventilation slits, and above it, a loft hatch with a boarded door. To the right of the doorway, there is a single ventilation slit and a full-height opening with a steel door, likely added later. The added bay includes a corrugated steel door on the left and a small iron-framed window to the right in the attic storey.
The rear elevation features a small central raised doorway leading to the winnowing passage, which has a stone lintel and a wooden boarded door. On either side of this doorway, there are three ventilation slits arranged asymmetrically, along with two loft hatches with stone sills. The loft hatches on the right have boarded doors, while those on the left are infilled with corrugated sheeting. The rear of the added bay has a small iron-framed window to the right on the ground floor and another to the left in the attic storey. The east gable end has three tiers of ventilation slits. The adjoining west gable end features a low range of former pig sties, built of rubble stone with corrugated asbestos roofs and plain doorways. There is a large sty to the left and a smaller sty to the right, both with pens in front enclosed by rubble stone boundary walls.
At the time of inspection, there was no access to the interior, but it is reported to have a plain tie-beam roof.
