Description
The Georgian House, formerly the stables at Pengwern Hall, is a two-storey building with five windows, designed to complement the Hall's forecourt. Built in Flemish bond brickwork with stone dressings, it sits on a coarsely rendered and white-painted plinth. The roof is hipped, covered with slate, and features metal ridge and hip covers, along with a hexagonal domed cupola. The central bay is slightly projected and pedimented, with a small attic lunette above. The doors and windows are fully stone dressed, with the lower windows featuring a pulvinated frieze and cornice, while the door also has a pediment. The main entrance consists of double doors with iron studs. Above, there are six-pane hornless sash windows, with the central window being a four-pane casement. Below, there are twelve-pane similar windows, one of which includes a top-hung opener.
At the rear, the building has three storeys, with the central three bays slightly advanced and pedimented. The central row of windows is recessed within an arch, and there is a lunette window in the pediment, along with the remains of a Palladian window below. A large chimney stack rises over the gable.
Notably, there is a rare example of a single-hand Georgian clock located at the front on the plinth of the cupola.
