Description
Rhuddlan Bridge is a Grade II* listed sandstone arch bridge featuring two arches of unequal span, separated by a single splayed squared cutwater. The bridge is constructed from roughly coursed and squared sandstone, with the coursing being finer in the cutwaters, which appear to have been built in a separate phase. The arches are formed with voussoirs, and the stonework is stepped out over them to create drip moulds. On the southeast side, three tablets are embedded in the masonry of the cutwater, one of which bears the arms of Flint and is dated 1595. In the 19th century, the parapets in the main part of the span were replaced with a cast-iron railing supported by heavy brackets, while stone parapets with plain copings remain at either end of the bridge.
