Description
The outbuilding at Bwlch-issa is a Grade II listed structure built of rubble stonework with a timber-framed front that faces the main house, topped with a graded slate roof. It consists of one bay, featuring a gable fireplace and a staircase leading to the attic. The building has been extended to the west in stonework, which now includes a cartshed with a corrugated iron roof. The stone gable end faces the road. The former location of a stair or lobby entry next to the stack has been infilled with stone. The stack has offset drips over the ridge and roof slopes.
The timber-framed front has five bays, two panels high, with some wattle and daub infilling. The bay closest to the stack retains a crudely cut arched doorhead, likely created when the lobby door was bricked up. The fifth framing bay now features an external door that provides access to the loft. The extension has an open front and a gable opening to the loft above.
Inside, there is a large fireplace with a chamfered fire lintel in the main room. The end wall is timber framed against the stone extension. A dog-leg staircase, with stone steps, leads to the loft above.
