Description

Hafod-yr-Abad is a lobby-entry house with a farm building attached at the lower end, although there are no signs of intercommunication between the two. The main structure features two projecting gabled wings at the rear. It is built from whitewashed rubble stone and has a slate roof with plain stone stacks. The house is one and a half storeys high and has a four-window range on the west side. Gabled dormers, which have 20th-century glazing, spring below the eaves. The doorway is offset to the right and aligns with a large stone stack, featuring a 20th-century glazed door. There are two window openings to the left of the door and one to the right, with sills that do not project. The stable to the left has a central door flanked by 20th-century metal windows, and above it is a blocked dormer opening. There is also a single-storey lean-to at the gable end.

On the south side, the house is two storeys tall, with two window openings on each floor. A former external stone stair leading to the granary has been removed. The rear wings have projecting stacks, one of which has an attached single-storey lean-to with four low door openings.

Inside, the room to the left features chamfered ceiling beams and joists with straight-cut stops. The adjoining corner room has a stone sink set into the side wall. The room to the right also has chamfered beams, but these have 17th-century scroll stops, and the joists are not visible.
