Description
Pen-y-clawdd Farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed from whitewashed stone rubble, which was formerly rendered, and features a slate roof. The farmhouse has two bays on either side of an axial stack. The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door, and there are 19th-century six-pane sash windows with recessed boxes, along with a four-paned window located above the porch. The left gable end of the building is rendered. A tall central stack is topped with weather courses.
At the rear, there is an earlier wing that includes a gable stack and a side entrance leading to the kitchen. Although the interior was not accessible during the inspection, reports from the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales (RCAHMW) indicate that it features stone flagged floors, chamfered and stopped ceiling beams and joists, and a large fireplace. There is a timber partition in the west wing with two doors. Above the fireplace in the north room, a stone is set that bears the date 1631, and an inscription reading 16 EP 93 is found on the doorhead of the first floor.
