Description
The Tramway Bridge at Maes-yr-ychain is a Grade II listed structure built from blue brick and local stone. It features square abutments that support heavy slate lintels, which are approximately 2.66 meters long and 275 millimeters deep, spanning about 2 meters over the former tramway line. Above these lintels, there is a 300 millimeter deep stone coping on each side that holds iron railings between terminal piers that are 700 millimeters square, each topped with a square weathered concrete cap. The retaining walls on the lower southeast side of the bridge extend straight for about 300 meters across the fields, enclosing the former track. Additionally, a benchmark of 470.1 feet (143 meters) is cut into the parapet.
