Description
The Well House at Abbey Farm is a Grade II listed structure built of ashlar stone. It is positioned slightly forward of a battered dry stone retaining wall that supports the road embankment. The building has a rectangular shape, with an arched well recess facing east. This recess features a two-centred arch in a Gothic style, adorned with wave moulding between fillets, and the chamfered jambs end with cut stops at the bottom. The top of the well house is made up of five offset chamfered courses and has a hipped front, while the sides slope back into the embankment. The well opening measures 62 cm wide, 110 cm high, and 86 cm deep, and clear water continues to rise through the floor.
