Description
The Pentrefelin Tramway Viaduct is a 19th-century structure featuring a rubble stone revetted embankment that is approximately 130 meters long. The track is elevated above the stone-on-edge copings by an additional embankment. The viaduct has three spaced arches, with the center arch being wider and spanning the river Eglwyseg, while there is a narrower flood arch on each side. All arches are adorned with rusticated and margin dressed stone quoins and voussoirs, forming a semi-circular shape, with the keystone slightly emphasized. These arches are flanked by pilaster buttresses. The center arch is noted to carry the date 1857. On the south side, there are seven large raking buttresses, which may have been added later.
