Description

Flanders Farmhouse is a two-storey building with stone rubble walls covered in pebbledash cladding. It features a Welsh slate gable roof with rebuilt stone stacks at each end and one to the north-east of the passage. The house has a single depth layout with a rear outshut.

The front elevation includes plastic sash windows with glazing bars, which were inserted around 1985. The first-floor windows are smaller and often misaligned with those on the ground floor. The north-east end of the main house wing has a window above and below that are not quite aligned. The third bay features a square-headed doorway with a porch that has iron panelled sides and a flat hood on brackets over an 8-panel door, where the top four panels are glazed. The fourth bay has a window above, while the fifth and sixth bays have two windows above and one in between below. All these windows have been replaced with plastic units since 1982.

To the south-west of the main wing is a recessed wing, also with pebbledash cladding and a stone stack on the south-west gable, topped with a slate gable roof. There is a set-back wing to the north-east with a front lean-to that has cement cladding and two windows. The rear elevation features late 20th-century plastic windows as well. A rear stair wing, likely added in the 18th century, was also noted.

During the resurvey, only the ground floor was accessible. The north-east ground floor room of the main house has stopped and chamfered ceiling beams and an arched door leading to the fireplace stairs, along with an altered stone fireplace featuring an oak lintel. There is a spiral stone stair with a corbelled roof. The interior of the house has undergone significant alterations, obscuring the original plan.
